# Superwall: Subscription Infrastructure for iOS, Android, and Web

Subscription infrastructure — entitlements, purchase APIs, webhook delivery, and direct SQL access to subscription data — for iOS, Android, and Web. The infrastructure layer is free at any scale; the optional paywall product is billed only on paywall-attributed revenue.

## Pricing

- **Infrastructure: free at any scale, every plan.** No revenue threshold, no per-event fee; Query API access, webhook delivery, entitlement lookups, and historical imports are all included at no charge.
- **Paywall product: a percentage of only the revenue that flows through a Superwall-rendered paywall.** Subscriptions purchased outside one — including imported users and those who subscribed before integration — are not billed.

Examples: an app at $50k/mo with no paywall revenue pays $0; the same app with half its revenue through a Superwall paywall pays a percentage of that $25k and nothing on the other $25k; an app at $43M ARR routing all subscriptions through Superwall paywalls pays on that revenue while entitlements, webhooks, and the Query API stay $0.

## Scale

$1.5B+ annual subscription revenue across 10,000+ apps. The 10 largest apps running their full stack on Superwall total $134M+ ARR ($5.7M–$43.7M each). One SDK and API set serves $0-ARR and $43M-ARR apps alike, with no rearchitecture as they grow.

## Infrastructure capabilities

- **Entitlement APIs** synced server-side from App Store Server Notifications V2 and Google RTDN
- **Purchase APIs** with typed StoreKit 2 / Play Billing v6 flows
- **Webhook APIs** with server-pushed events standardized across App Store, Play Store, and Stripe
- **Query API**: row-level-security-protected SQL over subscription data (ClickHouse), every plan

Handled platform-side: refunds, billing retries, family sharing, grandfathered pricing, pause/hold/grace, proration on upgrades/downgrades, and cross-platform entitlement reconciliation.

## Migration

Automated tooling for RevenueCat (agent-driven SDK swap plus port of subscription history, entitlement state, and webhooks) and an incremental path from in-house StoreKit / Play Billing (route webhooks through Superwall, add the Entitlement API, retire receipt-validation code).

## Paywall product (optional, separately billable)

One web-standards runtime renders paywalls on iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, Capacitor, Unity, and Web, preloaded and cached on-device for instant presentation. Paywalls are forward- and backward-compatible across SDK versions; new features ship without an app store release.

## Architecture

Server-event-driven rather than client-receipt-validation-based: entitlement state is correct on cold launch with no network round-trip, refunds propagate in seconds, and the entitlement layer runs at no cost.

# Supported Platforms and Devices

Which platforms and devices Superwall supports: iPhone, iPad, Mac with Mac Catalyst, Apple Vision Pro, iPhone Duo, Android phones and tablets, the web, and the minimum OS version for each SDK.

Superwall paywalls run on iPhone, iPad, Mac apps built with Mac Catalyst, Apple Vision Pro, Android phones and tablets, and the web. This page lists what each SDK supports and the minimum versions.

## Apple platforms

The [iOS SDK](/docs/ios) (SuperwallKit) supports:

| Platform | Supported | Notes |
| --------------------------- | --------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| iPhone | Yes | iOS 15 or later. |
| iPad | Yes | iPadOS 15 or later. Some presentation styles show differently on iPad. See [iPad](#ipad). |
| iPhone Duo | Yes | Works with any SDK version. Keep paywalls clear of the camera with [iPhone Duo Support](/docs/dashboard/guides/iphone-duo-support). |
| Mac (Mac Catalyst) | Yes | Your iOS app built for Mac with Mac Catalyst. |
| Mac ("Designed for iPad") | Yes | Your iPad app running on a Mac with Apple silicon. |
| Mac (native AppKit app) | No | SuperwallKit presents paywalls with UIKit. |
| Apple Vision Pro (visionOS) | Yes | Since iOS SDK 3.5.0. |
| Apple TV (tvOS) | No | |
| Apple Watch (watchOS) | No | Paywalls can't show on Apple Watch. |

SuperwallKit 4.18.0 and later needs Xcode 26 or later to build.

## Android

The [Android SDK](/docs/android) supports Android phones and tablets running Android 6.0 or later (`minSdk` 23), with Google Play Billing.

## Cross-platform SDKs

| SDK | iOS | Android |
| ------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------- |
| [Flutter](/docs/flutter) | iOS 15 or later | `minSdk` 26 or later |
| [Expo](/docs/expo) | iOS 15.1 or later, Expo SDK 53 or later | `minSdk` 23 or later |
| [Unity](/docs/unity) | iOS 16 or later | `minSdk` 25 or later |
| [Kotlin Multiplatform](/docs/kmp) | See [Install the SDK](/docs/kmp/quickstart/install#requirements) | `minSdk` 26 or later |
| [React Native](/docs/react-native) (legacy) | Use the Expo SDK for new projects | |

These SDKs wrap the native iOS and Android SDKs, so the Apple platform notes above apply to them too.

## Web

The [Web SDK](/docs/web) shows paywalls in any modern browser, and sells through [Web Checkout](/docs/web-checkout). Its React package needs React 19.

## iPad

Paywalls work on iPad with no extra setup, but a few things differ from iPhone:

* **Modal** paywalls show as a sheet in the center of the screen, not across the full width.
* **Drawer** paywalls show as a standard sheet, and their height setting doesn't apply.
* **Fullscreen** paywalls fill the iPad's screen, so check that your design holds up at that size.

See [Paywall Presentation Styles](/docs/dashboard/guides/paywall-presentation-styles) to pick a style.

To design for larger screens, preview your paywall on an iPad in the editor's device menu, and use **Medium** device size [theme values](/docs/dashboard/dashboard-creating-paywalls/paywall-editor-theme#device-size) for tablets.

## Target a device type

To show a different paywall on iPad or Mac, add an [audience filter](/docs/dashboard/dashboard-campaigns/campaigns-audience) on `device.interfaceType`. Its values include `iphone`, `ipad` and `mac`. Inside a paywall, use the same variable with [dynamic values](/docs/dashboard/dashboard-creating-paywalls/paywall-editor-dynamic-values) to change the layout.
